Fresh attacks
Re "Car tax cut to be tough after fires." (Nov. 3):
Why? Using fire, mudslides and earthquakes (usually in that order) as excuses to maintain a bloated bureaucracy is the old way of doing things. We rejected that when we recalled Gray Davis. But the battle to save California from a kinder, gentler American-style socialism is not over.
Proponents of waste and corruption (that is, big government) have promised to be back next year with fresh attacks on Proposition 13. Does Gov. Schwarzenegger need to cut the car tax and cut spending to show he will lead the fight for taxpayers? More than ever.
